More cases recorded for hurting religious feelings, inmate
The hate campaign shows no signs of abating as two people, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly making derogatory remarks against the Prophet Muhammad in Bareilly.
Another person, belonging to the minority community, was also indicted for his alleged comments against a Bharatiya Janata party leader on social media.
As a precaution, additional police personnel have been deployed near each place of worship and local leaders have been asked to spread a message of peace to maintain community harmony.
One of the defendants arrested by the police at Prem Nagar police station is Kuldeep Kumar, who writes history sheets and has been arrested several times by the police. He shared an objectionable post on social media.
The second FIR was recorded for sharing a similar social media post against the Prophet Muhammad under Section 295A (deliberate or malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings of any class) while the third FIR was recorded against Rehan Khan, who shared inflammatory content against the suspended BJP. Bareilly Police Chief Superintendent Rohit Singh Sajwan said: “We have booked three people and will take action against anyone who shares this objectionable content, regardless of religion or caste.”
In Ballia, a youth was arrested in the Rasra region for allegedly posting objectionable content against the Prophet Muhammad on a social media site, a police official said on Monday. Krishna Kumar, who posted the objectionable Facebook post on Sunday, has been arrested, Circle Officer (Rasra) Shiv Narain Vaish said.
The case was filed against him on the complaint of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind member Sheikh Huzaifa, who in a tweet on Sunday urged police to take action against the accused. On learning of the complaint, police arrested Krishna Kumar on Monday, the circle officer added.
