KARAK – Hundreds of Hindu yatrees visited Shri Paramhans Ji Maharaj’s Samadi and Teri Karak Temple on Sunday and performed religious rituals on the first day of the New Year.
According to officials, as many as 215 Hindu Yatrees, including 159 from neighboring India, performed their religious rituals in the Samadhi of Shri Pram Hans Maharaj here in Teri. The delegation arriving at Peshawar airport was escorted to the temple under strict security measures. Members of the Hindu community belonging to Sindh and representatives of the Pakistan Hindu Council also accompanied the delegation.
Speaking on the occasion, the head of legal affairs for the Hindu community, Rohit Kumar, praised the efforts of the Pakistani government to protect and conserve their places of worship. He said the measures taken by the Pakistani government to boost religious tourism and protect minority places of worship would further promote the country’s positive image among the community of nations. He urged the Indian government to also grant religious freedom to Muslims and make efforts to bridge the divide between religion and humanity in their country.
The convoy of yatrees arrived in Pakistan through the Wagah border, then reached Peshawar by air. They were then transported to Teri Samadhi in Karak district under high security. Karak police took tough security measures on this occasion.
Rohit Kumar hails Pakistani government efforts to protect religious places
Security was directly overseen by District Police Officer (DPO) Karak, Shafiullah Jan, while SP Investigation Zahir Shah monitored the security situation in Teri Samadhi. Three Deputy Police Commissioners (DSP) as well as a large contingent of police officers have been deployed to Samadhi.
Hindu pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements and attributed it to a high level protocol.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly (NAM) and Chief Patron of the Hindu Council of Pakistan, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vanwani, while appreciating the security arrangements, police said de Karak had performed his duties with full responsibility.
He said the Pakistani government fully supports the promotion of religious tourism in the country. He added that the arrival of the Yatree Hindus in Teri Samadhi will open a new chapter of friendship and trust between the two countries.
